There has been cloudy moments in Ibarapa APC as the party is yet to resolve on either to adopt zoning system or to opt for consensus primary as it prepares to pick its candidates, as the timeline set by the apex electoral body Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) approaches.
According to multiple sources, the party whose congresses were concluded two months ago might be having difficulties settling down for its candidates due to series of unresolved issues raised by the acclaimed consensus congresses. According to a party member who prefer anonymity, he alleged that some members of the party went ahead by handpicking their stooges to fill executive positions at the wards, local and state levels, an act which is contrary to the guidelines established by the national secretariat of the party.
Ibarapadailynews gathered that some aspirants have already purchased their nominations forms, while some aspirants are feeling reluctant to go ahead with the process due to the fear that the party leadership is yet to give a directive on the modalities for the selection process. However, sources within the party revealed that some aspirants have decided to buy the forms with the hope of being favored, otherwise they might eventually leave the party for the opposition party.
The APC had in a press release late last night announced the extension of the purchase of expression of interest and nomination forms to allow equal and level playing ground, and to arrive a better modalities for candidates emergence.
