Fresh revelations emerging from within the APC in Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency have exposed an alleged last-minute gang-up targeted at Hon. Dr. Ajibola Muraina (Saubana), widely regarded by many party faithful as the leading and most acceptable aspirant ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives elections. According to credible insiders, some political actors allegedly unsettled by Muraina’s growing popularity, grassroots acceptance, and overwhelming support across Igbo Ora, Idere, Ayete, Tapa, and Igangan have now resorted to desperate tactics aimed at portraying him as unpopular within the party. In what observers describe as a calculated political move, ward chairmen of the APC across the constituency are reportedly being pressured and incited to sign a petition and vote of no confidence against him in an attempt to manipulate public perception.
According to one of the wards chairmen who exposed the antics, all the twenty wards chairmen across the constituency were summoned to an emergency meeting yesterday, and were forced to sign the petition. He further narrated that some of them refused to sign the petition on the ground that they are not the author of the document. However, one of the leaders who summoned the meeting insisted that if they failed to sign it, Muraina will remove them as wards executives.
A member of the party who seeks anonymity and was part of the meeting was said to have pulled out of the meeting, when he insisted that he will not sign the document because of future implications of such an act.
As at the time of reporting this news, ibarapadailynews is yet to confirm if the authors of the said petition have forced the party chairmen to sign the document or not. Perhaps, mounting pressure on them might eventually make them succumb and give in.
Though, antagonizing indications has emerged from certain people within the party as soon as Muraina Saubana Ajibola is being speculated on several occasions and publications as the annointed consensus candidate for the house of Representatives in the next year election. The current projection still put the former parliamentarian on the high rank as the choice candidate of the party, both at the topmost hierarchy of the party and at the constituency level.
